Why Toy Maker of Lunenburg

What Makes Our Wooden Paddleboards Different

01

Made in Canada

Crafted in Nova Scotia using sustainably sourced wood. Every piece supports Canadian materials and local craftsmanship.

02

Built for You

Choose from the available options to create a paddleboard that's built specifically for you, rather than pulled from a rack.

03

A Board That Stands Out

There's something different about seeing a wooden paddleboard on the water. Distinctive, unexpected, and hard not to notice.

04

The Character of Real Wood

Natural grain, colour, tone, and variation give each board its own character from the very beginning.

Built From the Inside Out

Built From the Inside Out

What looks like a solid wooden board begins with a carefully built internal framework. Thin strips of wood are shaped around it, then the board is formed, sanded, and finished by hand in our Nova Scotia workshop.

It’s a process you don’t see in the finished board—but it’s what makes the finished board possible.

A Paddleboard That Stands Out

A Paddleboard That Stands Out

There’s something different about a wooden paddleboard on the water.

The natural grain, warm tones, and character of real wood give each board a look of its own—something you simply don’t see every day on the water.

We know because we paddle the boards we built for our own family, and they have a way of catching people’s attention and sparking questions along the way.

Beautiful, distinctive, and unmistakably yours.

Questions, answered.

Yes. These aren't decorative wooden boards—they're built to be paddled. Our family has four handcrafted wooden paddleboards of our own, and we use them on the water ourselves. The hollow wooden construction creates a functional, buoyant board with a stable, beginner-friendly design.

We make three sizes based on the paddler's weight and how the board will be used: Small – 9'6" Approximately 105–135 lbs. Medium – 10'4" Approximately 105–175 lbs. Large – 11'4" Approximately 170–260 lbs. If you'll sometimes have a child riding with you, let us know. The additional weight affects the buoyancy you'll need, and we'll help you choose the appropriate size.

Please allow approximately three months for us to build your paddleboard. Each board is made to order rather than pulled from inventory, so your board doesn't enter the build process until we've discussed your size and customization choices and your deposit has been received.

No. Due to its size, your finished paddleboard must be picked up in Nova Scotia. We do not currently offer shipping for paddleboards.

Yes. That's one of the reasons we make them to order. Depending on what you have in mind, customization options include laser engraving, wood details at the tip and tail, solid or striped wood designs, natural wood or a one-colour stain, and anchor point placement. We'll discuss your choices with you before we begin your build.

Start by contacting us to discuss your paddleboard. Once we've confirmed the size, design, and customization details, a 50% deposit starts your build. The remaining 50% is due when your completed paddleboard is ready for pickup.

We understand that plans can change. If you cancel before construction of your paddleboard begins, your deposit is fully refundable. Once we begin building your board, the deposit becomes non-refundable because the time, materials, and custom work have already begun. Because each paddleboard is made to order specifically for you, completed custom paddleboards cannot be returned or exchanged. If you notice a problem related to our workmanship, please reach out. We'll repair workmanship issues at no charge. And because these boards are made to be used, we can also help if your paddleboard becomes damaged after you've had it out on the water. Repairs for damage from use are available for a small fee. Please contact us if you have any concerns—we'd much rather talk through the problem and see how we can help.
